Activities and Points of Interest

Our structure is located in the municipality of Rio and borders to the territory of the National Park of the Tuscan Archipelago, which extends over 60% of the surface of Elba Island and is a protected area that protects an enormous ecological heritage.

The area around Rio Marina offers many attractions and activities.

The small and lively village, overlooking the old port with the ancient Torre dei Principi Appiani, is full of restaurants where you can enjoy the different bars with live music too. Rio Marina is famous for its ancient iron mines that produced great fortunes that Napoleon Bonaparte enjoyed in the past. There are guided tours of the well-known wonderful mining park on foot or in an off-road vehicle, which is part of the Parco Minelba route, starting from the museum, which shows a collection of important minerals from Elba.

Along the picturesque panoramic road Volterraio, which connects the municipality of Rio with Portoferraio, you can visit the famous Castello del Volterraio in addition to well-known hiking trails that have to be covered both on foot and by bike.

Don’t miss a visit to the Orto dei Semplici Elbano and the Eremo di Santa Caterina, where exhibitions by artists from all over the world and concerts take place. Not far away is the ancient and well restored public wash house of Rio nell’Elba. In Rio nell’Elba we also recommend a visit to the Mueseum Civico Archeologico del Distretto Minerario.

Various events alternate over the course of the year, including the most famous Elba Book Festival, the Rally of Elba and in 2021 the Mountain Bike World Championship.

In the immediate vicinity, the renowned and unique “Costa che Brilla” offers free or equipped beaches overlooking a crystal clear sea.

The villa staff can put you in contact with structures that specialize in carrying out various activities: inflatable boat rentals – motor and sailing boats – diving – snorkeling – bike rental, e-bikes and scooters.
